Are you concerned about climate change impact, especially in Madagascar?

Do you have some ideas you wish you could implement but you’ve refrained from implementing due to lack of resources?

Are you an ICT specialist who can develop some ICT applications (desktop, mobile or internet)?

Do you want to actually bring solutions to actual climate change issues happening in Madagascar?

Are you a NGO, a civil society entity who have hands-on experience on the issues faced with climate change?

I’m sure you’ve answered “YES” to at least one of these questions. Now the question is: how can we move forward into bringing actual solutions to some of these issues of climate change?

Maybe you already have some ideas but lack some resources implementing it. Maybe some ICT specialists have the needed expertise to develop some applications but they lack the actual field-experience so as to help them conceive that great application?

That’s where this Apps4Africa regional challenge comes in. The idea is simple: bring together all those specialists for two days (march 16th and 17th) so that both agree on the actual challenges Madagascar faces with regard to climate change. Once those issues have been commonly agreed upon, then both will work on identifying ICT-based solution that would address a specific Madagascar climate change issue. The solution that would come up would then be submitted to run for the Southern Africa regional Apps4Africa competition. Hey, there’s a $15 000 prize for the winner and a great visibility for the project: not only a person from the team will have the chance to talk about it during the now-famous TED event in California, but IndigoTrust may also help them materially in the implementation phase of the project. And Hey (again), this Apps4africa got even got an appreciation from Mme Hillary Rodham Clinton.herself.

So why don’t you jump into it and register for either one (or both) the two days session? Remember, the brainstorming session will happen on March 16th and March 17th. Register now and give your ideas the necessary impulse to get it done.
