What’s been going on in Madagascar this week?
I just want to take Madafan readers through some hand-picked external online resources that will give another perspective on Madagascar. The main idea behind this is that it’s always good to get the point of other tourists/people (in case you think I’m only here to talk about the good things on Madagascar) on how they lived the Madagascar experience, though this post will highlight some diaries, feed-back as well as photos (a kind of blog-carnival article)
Despite the perception from people living abroad that Madagascar is still on crisis, the 16th edition of Donia started yesterday in Antananarivo- the capital (main scene of the current political trouble) before a carnival that will finish in Nosy-be next week,
So this week, I discovered a very interesting and 22 pages-long german report article made by Alexander Jaus about his photo trip in Madagascar back in September 2008. They did the north part of Madagascar and plan to come back this year to do the south part- all of this is organized by Tanala Horizons a german TO specialized on Madagascar for 12 years now- BTW, they have got nice photos on Madagascar on their website (read the english google-translated version report here). Thanks Alexander (your Thbdzamarambo nickname says it all- those who’ve been to Madagascar know what thb and dzama are
and Thorsten for sharing and for your passion for Madagascar.
This week, the lone-kayaker Riaan Manser also achieved to pass the Cap Sainte Marie on his kayak-tour of Madagascar that he started in September 2008. He is now longing the east coast of Madagascar which is known for being more tumultuous than the Mozambique canal. Follow this wonderful experience on twitter through @roundtheoutside.
If you are a facebook user, don’t miss the group dedicated to this experience which is almost a diary of the trip.
Friday 22nd, today is an official day-off in Madagascar, yesterday too was a day-off, but we’ve got an eventful week behind.
Feel free to share any other activities that I may have missed in the comment section.
