We all know that Madagascar has been through troubles those couple of months. This ended up with a lot of issues arising for the tourism industry whereby hotels had to close or do huge promotion (sometimes up to 50%) in order to get the ball rolling.
As an additional incentive, and since the peak touristic season is about to begin, authorities and professional tourism association came to an arrangement where the visa entry for a less than 30 days stay in Madagascar will not be charged anymore.
Moreover, the National Tourism Board is now working on releasing the “no-go” advice that some foreign countries has imposed to potential tourists while doing their best to insure tourists’security while visiting Madagascar.
As an additional note, please find below the official communiqué that Madagascar’s National Tourism board issued with regard to the current crisis
Since we know that most of tourists are still concerned about coming to Madagascar due to the current crisis, do you think this will help attract tourists? And if you are a tourist, do you think those measures will relieve any doubt you may still have?

My family and I are going to MAdagascar in June and need to verify that the visas are in fact free of charge now – is there any official documentation of this?
Also – are there any lists of parks that are closed currently? We are traveling to :
Kirindy, Perenet, Berenty, Ankaranana, Montagne d’Ambre and Ranomafana.
And has the airport been open regularly throughout the crisis? We have several flights within Madagascar that we need to make in order to complete our program.
Thanks in advance for any advice or information you can provide.
Cheers,
Alexander Smith

Hi Alexander, thanks for your interest on Madagascar. Sounds like you have an exciting trip. Enjoy it to the fullest.
Qs for the official statement about visas, I do confirm that this has already been announced publicly by thenational tourism board and the government. Do check the official statement on http://www.madagascar-tourisme.com/home.php?lang=us
as for the national park, Marojejy has officially announced that they are closing due to the looting. Didn’t hear yet if they reopened.
You may want to check the list of parks and reserves here http://www.parcs-madagascar.com/madagascar-national-parks.php?Navigation=25 . This is in french though. But for any park-related questions, the PNM is the authoritative entity. You can contact them at
