If you have kids (or even if you don’t), chances are that you’ve seen the Madagascar [2005] cartoon, and the last one, Madagascar, escape to africa [2008]. Like many of us (I do), we find King julien character as cute and funny. This post will open our eyes to the fact that sometimes reality (actual lemurs) can be more interesting than fiction (what is described in the cartoon).Although there are 57 diffferent types of lemurs in Madagascar, Madafan has handpicked some that may invite you to come and see by yourself by visiting this beautiful island.
So here we go for some King Julien brother and sisterhood in real life.A must-see list of cute lemurs to discover.
| The actual King Julien-alike lemur. The Lemur Catta is probably the most famous lemur known abroad of Madagascar for its ring-tail and his karate-like way of jumping. Watch them play and jump in the “Reserve of Berenty”, in the south of MadagascarOnce you are there, try to walk/jump the Lemur Catta way |

| Look at these cutie lemurs with this awesome fur.It always amazes me, even though I live in Madagascar, that such animal with such fur live in a tropical country like Madagascar.Guess what this red lemur is trying to pick downside? |
|
| Dare you say you won’t surrender to this eye. Don’t you?If you are a photographer, I guess you’ll love the color combination that nature has put into this lemur. But hey, there’s more to discover in the actual island.Well, this shot is almost a close-up but it’s also interesting to see them move around. Guess what? Comme and see by yourself |

How do your toy-bear compare with this actual lemur? Ain’t it cute?Yet another variation of cute lemurs you’ll meet during your trip to Madagascar.Would you be able to get steady on this bamboo and take such a nice standing for the photographer? |
| What about a black and white couple? As if they are just waiting for a photograph to frame them. | |
| Imagine meeting with this cutie round lemur in the deep and dry south of Madagascar – unrealistic situation that you’ll meet all along your trip. Have you noticed that those lemurs definitely love cameras, as if they were models ready for a photo session. |
If you want the scientific approach, rather that the more than cutie-oriented one I adopted here, you’d want to check the very detailed book edited by Conservation International titled “Lemurs of Madagascar”. Note that this CI book also provide clear map of where to spot what kind of lemur in Madagascar.
Now, who’s your favorite. And if it’s not in this list, feel free to share yours.

[...] Wait, this ain’t over. There’s more to come. Since “Madagascar” brand sells so well, some illumintaed-marketing-oriented people in a cable-TV called Nickelodeon decided to jump on the Madagascar wagon and created “The penguins of Madagascar” (guys, Madagascar is a tropical island- “penguins of Madagascar”?), this is now a regular serie since March 2009 on this TV channel. Although I don’t have the figures on the income they are making on this, I won’t even be surprised if they decide to create another serie around “King Julien the lemur” … Just smile and wave. [...]
